Employment and HR
Staff duties, supervision, evaluation and planning for vacancies.
Deciding who does what on your staff
The Education Regulations make you responsible for giving staff their duties. Use each teacher's strengths, and supervise both teaching and non-teaching staff.
Helping a teacher improve their practice
Use supportive supervision. Observe teaching, give descriptive feedback, and give people what they need to grow.
Evaluating teachers
Make sure every teacher is evaluated under the Education (Teacher Evaluation) Regulations, using the Ministry's staff evaluation forms.
Planning ahead for staff vacancies
Plan staffing early so shortages do not happen. Follow all relevant laws, policies and procedures when you recruit, hire and promote.
Laws and policies listed in the guide
Section 6 of both guides lists these under Employment and HR.
