Records and reports you must keep

The Education Regulations list records and reports principals must keep. They include pupil records, attendance, staff meeting notes and an annual report on the premises.

Do this now

  1. Step 1: Register pupils and group them by their course of study.
  2. Step 2: Record each pupil’s progress, and send periodic progress reports to parents.
  3. Step 3: Record attendance in the attendance register.
  4. Step 4: Hold at least one staff meeting a term. Keep a record of what was discussed and decided.
  5. Step 5: Make the timetable available to pupils, teachers and education officers.
  6. Step 6: Make an annual report on the state of the school premises.

If you are a school leader

These come from regulation 18 of the Education Regulations.

If you are an education officer

The Senior Education Officer job description in your guide includes annual reports. These cover how well curriculum and assessment are delivered. It also includes reports on the section’s work and how well its initiatives worked.

More detail

The guides also list School Board Reporting and Receivables Reporting under Administration. Links to these have not been added to the guides yet.
