If you are a school leader

Leadership Standard 4 expects sound financial oversight, accountability and transparency. This includes meeting all internal and external accountability requirements.

If you are an education officer

You are a steward of public investment in education. The guide notes that demand for funding often far outstrips what is available.

More detail

The education officers’ guide describes four kinds of resources:

  • Human: leaders, teachers and support staff
  • Material: for example teaching materials, stationery, books and technology
  • Physical: for example school buildings, furniture and equipment
  • Financial: for example public funding and sponsors’ donations

The education officer job description also names the Financial Management and Audit (Financial) Rules, 2011 and the Public Finance and Audit Act, 2019. The guides list Procurement Rules under Administration, but a link has not been added yet.
