If you are a school leader

Safety, clean premises and the annual report are duties under regulation 18. Control of the premises is under regulation 17. Regular inspection is one of the contributions the guide suggests for school leaders. Leadership Standard 4 also expects you to oversee the running, upkeep, safety and accessibility of your buildings. Do this in line with all laws, regulations and Government directives.

If you are an education officer

Inspect schools regularly and deal promptly with maintenance and safety issues. Set system budgets and allocate funds for building, renovating and maintaining schools. Work with other government departments and agencies on the safety and security of students and staff.
