School and system improvement
Starting the year: create a school profile
A school profile is a short snapshot of your school. Create one at the start of the year to set a baseline and measure progress.
This page is only in the practice guide for school leaders. It is not part of your guide.
Do this now
- Step 1: Gather the information you already have.
- Step 2: Describe your students and staff.
- Step 3: Describe the families and communities you serve.
- Step 4: List your school–community partnerships.
- Step 5: List the grades, forms, programmes, services and subjects you offer, and your extracurricular programmes.
- Step 6: Note general patterns in student performance across subjects, grades, forms and programmes.
- Step 7: Use the profile as your baseline for measuring progress and planning change.
If you are an education officer
